When I was a kid I received the first handheld gaming console with interchangeable cartridges, the Microvision from Milton Bradley. I only owned one cartridge, block buster, a breakout clone. I loved it. When I could not play it, yea Im looking at you school :-(, I would sit in class and draw the game on paper playing a "virtual" video game.
Doodle Block is a throwback to that era. I wanted a simple breakout game. No fancy graphics with power-ups falling from the sky. Just a ball, paddle, and bricks with play similar to the original gameplay Wozniak and Jobs design for Atari. Can you make it to the amazing ending?
Interesting history lesson. The experience Wozniak and Jobs received building Breakout for Atari was used in the design of the Apple II. "A lot of features of the Apple II went in because I had designed Breakout for Atari. I had designed it in hardware. I wanted to write it in software now." - Steve Wozniak. As they say, the rest is history.
I wrote the game with no intention of placing it on the app store. So many people asked for copies, I decided to release it. I hope you like it!
